Serving the City

Today, we served the City.

We took a group of 47 students and adults, drove an hour and a half east to New York City, and we served.  We packed up 100 lunches to pass out, and filled every inch of empty space in our vehicles, with warm winter clothing that was collected from our church family and community throughout the past few weeks.

When we arrived at Tompkins Square Park, we arranged the bags and boxes of clothing on the fence of the park and set up a sort of makeshift shop.  Then, over the next few hours, we served those who stopped by.  Some were looking for warm clothing, some were hungry for a free lunch, and some were just looking for a listening ear and an open heart.

It was a heart touching day.  I was so proud as I watched our students and leaders interact with the many people who stopped by.  We also passed out Bibles and I was just so proud of our sweet Ellee girl, as she passed out three Bibles to three different people.  Everyone was so sweet to her, and she was just so excited to be a part of this special day.

We are so thankful to all of our amazing leaders and students!  Our wonderful Pastor Charley came with us also and we just had such an amazing day.
