This past weekend at a women's fellowship group that I attend, we talked about joy. And it got me thinking that whereas there are so many big things that bring me joy (i.e. knowing God, my life, my family, my photography), there are also so many little things in life that bring me joy too.
So, here's my list, in no particular order, of the little things in life that bring me joy these days.
1. Saving money at Rite Aid- Goodness knows, many of us love to spend money. For me though, I get much more joy out of saving money. After a bit of planning, I headed out this afternoon to Rite Aid, and purchased everything in the picture below for $5.51 out of pocket. As a bonus, I got back $8.00 in store credit after my purchase. Getting "paid" 2.49 to take $75.09 worth of goods out of a store definitely brings me joy.
2. Zumba- I've shared before about The Fitness Studio, and I have loved taking Zumba classes there over the past month. I love working out, especially when it's fun. I've been meeting some amazing women and look forward to taking classes each week. Zumba is definitely something that brings me joy.
3. Listening to Andy Stanley sermons- I have this rotation between listening to Pandora, re-watching episodes of LOST on my iPad and listening to Andy Stanley sermons, when I'm doing things like cleaning or washing dishes. This past weekend has been challenging on many levels, and I find that when I'm stressed, it's such an encouragement to fill my mind with good things. If you don't know, Andy Stanley is an amazing pastor, who leads a huge church in the South. He is so relevant and preaches on such a real, understandable level. For Christmas one year, Jer gave me 150 of her sermons and it brings me lots of joy to listen to them and to be encouraged.
4. Getting fun things in the mail- I've realized that I have a bit of an addiction lately. There is a recent movement of companies that will box up all sorts of fun, and sent it to you (for a monthly fee, of course), and I have been finding these companies and paying them for their fun services. I've tried Birchbox, Blissmo Box and last week received a Conscious Box in the mail. To my credit, most of these companies will give you a killer deal to try out their product. So, for the most part, I've stuck with the first month and then cancelled if I realize that it's something that doesn't fit my needs. All that being said, getting fun boxes of stuff in the mail is something that brings me joy.
5. I could go on and on... clementines, white Hanes cotton socks, hot chocolate, hand sanitizer, my Dyson ball vacuum, Costco, recharegable batteries, and Life cereal... I've realized that I very much have the personality with being joyful with the little things in life.
Now, I don't often ask, but I'm so curious to know what of life's little things, bring you joy?
Feel free to share :)
