Today marked the end of a very involved week. Christian had a birthday party, so while he was running around with friends playing laser tag, Ellee and I went on a lunch date to Wendy's. She proudly rocked her hot pink pea coat, Trinkets and Truffle's hair flower and Disney princess sunglasses.
I'm a big fan of the value menu. But some days, just call for the good old fashioned kid's meal. And I do have to say that Wendy's does a pretty good job with theirs. Ellee enjoyed her burger, juice box, fries, frosty and toy. And even though she only ate half of the burger, half of the fries and the toy is already lost, it was worth it. Mostly.
I opted for a half sized chicken apple pecan salad. Goodness knows, after my Zumba class this morning, I wasn't going to waste all of my hard work on a burger and fries. Dessert? Yes. I'd choose dessert any day, because I'm that kind of a person. Back to the salad. It tasted much better than it looks. And it was fun, just hanging out with our Ellee girl.
After Wendy's we had some time to check out a Dollar Store. I have always loved a good dollar store. There's something about an entire store being filled with items that all cost a dollar that has such appeal. Now for the most part, there are many, many useful things that you can buy at the dollar store. Today I picked up some kids toothbrushes, hydrogen peroxide, and vinegar (to use for a homemade citrus cleaner that I've been wanting to try). However, there are also many, many just interesting things that one can find at the dollar store. Like this Power Stick Screem Shower Gel.
Or these Jesus stickers. Because who knew they even made stuff like this? I would have loved to share more dollar store treasures, but we were a bit limited on time.
After our dollar store adventure, we swung by to pick up Christian from his Birthday party.
The party was about 30 minutes from our home, and as we were driving back I spotted a Walmart. We stopped in quick so that I could pick up 10 bars of Fels Naptha Laundry soap, borax and washing soda. Then I came home and made up three batches of homemade laundry soap (each batch only uses one bar of soap, but for whatever reason, Walmart is the only store around here that carries that brand, so I stocked up). After using my 1980s Salad Shooter to grate the soap, I tried using my stainless steel biscuit cutter to finely cut the rest of the soap, and it cut (no pun intended) my chopping time in half.
And that concluded the afternoon portion of my Saturday. It was a crazy week. Between getting sick, getting better, helping friends, running ministries, putting on a wedding and everything else, it was challenging at times, to say the least. But for now, I'm glad to have made it through and looking forward to what next week will bring.
