It was a great day...

Today was a great day.  Birthdays are always big days in our home.  We love to celebrate life... another year lived filled with too many blessings to count.

This morning, Jer and I took a scooter ride out to Southampton.  With temperatures close to 50, it was a perfect day for a ride.  We tried to be fun, and eat breakfast at a fancy deli in the Hamptons, but common sense stopped us from paying $15 for a breakfast sandwich and brought us to good ole Panera Bread, where we both enjoyed a great meal for less than what we would have paid for that sandwich.

Since I have amazing friends and one of those amazing friends was willing to pick Ellee up from preschool and have her over for a play date, Jer and I were able to catch a movie this afternoon.  We watched the movie, The Grey.  Thankfully he somewhat enjoyed the movie.  It was definitely not the typical kind of movie that I traditionally enjoy.  I won't ruin the movie for anyone who might go and watch it, but I will share a few things that I did learn after seeing it.  One, I will never, ever fly in a plane over Alaska.  Two, I never knew that wolves were something to be afraid of.  Black bears?  Yes.  Anacondas? Yes.  But wolves?  Who knew?  And third, I learned the power and protection of a good winter coat.  Watching the movie kind of made me want to go out and buy some sort of North Face super jacket that would protect me in the craziest of winter storms.  However, when I walked outside only to be met with 50 degree weather, I changed my mind about buying the coat.

We ended the day with presents and a family dinner out to J&Rs Steakhouse.  We've never been there before, but it seemed to be a good birthday dinner choice.  The food was fantastic, and our kids ate free (because apparently kid's eat free there), so all in all, it turned out to be a great place to celebrate.

When we got home, Jer headed out to play basketball at the elementary school for open gym.  He's been building up a great outreach there by playing basketball and building relationships.  All in all, it was a great day.

Before he left, Ellee shared the powerful words that Jeremy tells her every night.  After a bit of coaxing, I was able to get her to say it on video, so I thought I would share that with you all tonight :)
