For some reason in life, its' always the first days that we focus on. And for a good reason, obviously. But for me, today seemed just as good, if not better than yesterday. The kids woke up with excitement, as opposed to anticipation. Both of them had amazing days yesterday and were ready to go back. We packed lunches and snacks and were good to go.
Since in the rain it was impossible to get a good picture yesterday, we paused today to get this one.
Christian gave us a wave and then confidently walked in to the school to find his class.
And then we walked Ellee over to her class. She walked over to her locker, and started putting her things away as we were leaving. By the way, since when do kindergarteners get lockers? I'm pretty sure I had to wait till Jr. High to get one.
And I'm proud to say that today is better for this mom as well. Yesterday was rough, I'll be honest. I had a few good cries and had to Skype with my sister just so I could see all my nieces and nephews so that I'd feel better. There's something about watching my sister and her 6 kids that filled a little ache in my heart as ours were away all day in school. And truthfully, there is also just something about watching 6 kids, 9 and under that's pretty fascinating and fun too.
Day two... it's better. I'm looking forward to spending the day, getting our home ready for the many guests that are coming in the next few days. The majority of Jer's family is joining up through the week for family vacation next week. We are all pretty excited about that. And while I definitely miss the kids, I know they are good and I'll be praying for them throughout the day and looking forward to hearing all about their adventures when they get home.
