A Note to Moms...

When I was at the Preschool this week, taking school pictures, my friend Jeanna asked if I could snap a few shots of her beautiful daughters.  Or course I said yes.

I've known these amazing girls for quite a few years and have worked with them on a variety of photography sessions over the years.  We've captured school pictures, a session at the beach, a first communion and a Father's Day session with their sweet puppy.  They are both so wonderful and so beautiful and it is always a special gift to be able to work with them.

Being the photographer that I am, I also insisted that Ms. Jeanna take a few pictures as well.  I usually try to suggest this when working with my amazing clients, especially when it comes to getting pictures of moms with their children.  In my family and in most others, it's usually us moms that are the ones behind the cameras, getting shots of our children.  I know that I have many, many portraits of my children with Daddy, but over the years, there have been very few with me.

That being said, my advice tonight for all of the beautiful moms out there... take time to get pictures with your children.  We play such an important role in the lives of our kids and we need to capture these times as well.  Next time you're clicking away, capturing precious memories, make sure to find someone to take a picture of you with your children as well.  Put away your insecurities, throw on a smile and you will have a gift that you can share with your family for years to come.
