Date Night

Tonight, after dropping Ellee off for a sweet friend's birthday party, Christian and I had a date night.  I love date nights with my son.  I love having a night that is all about him.  We had a great time hanging out and talking.

We went to Quiznos.  I got a Turkey Flatbread sandwich, while Christian opted for pepperoni and "salad" otherwise known as lettuce, and nothing else.  I insisted it was a bit of a strange combination, but after tasting it, realized that it was weirdly good.  After telling Christian that I did like it, he wisely told me, "Mom, you gotta try new things, the old saying is."

Conveniently located next to the Quiznos was a self serve frozen yogurt place.  I started the night out with this masterpiece.  If you look closely, you can see the smidgen of frozen yogurt that I got to accompany my toppings.  I also added a few fresh raspberries, for the sake of attempting to be healthy.

Granted, as you can imagine, that tiny treat was not quite as filling as I had hoped.  I debated out loud if I should go for seconds, to which Christian lovingly, and quite seriously replied, "It's up to you, Mom.  Follow your dreams."

So I did.  With this heap of deliciousness.

Afterwards, we ran over to Target.  We checked out possible present ideas for his upcoming birthday.  We talked a bit more about life.  And by far, my favorite part of the night was when my seven year old, but soon to be eight year old turned to me with love in his eyes and said, "Mom, do you know you really make my life special?"  Sigh.  For the record, I do try.  And for the record, nothing in the world beats having a child just plain appreciate you.

Thanks to my amazing son, for an equally amazing date night.  Mom loves you, so much.
