This Awesome Kid

Yesterday, I had the privilege of hanging out with this awesome kid for the afternoon.

For the past few years, before Ellee started school, we would have fun hanging out in the afternoons after she would get done with Preschool.  Now that she's in Kindergarten full days, I definitely miss her company.  So, when my very good friend Jen asked if I'd hang with her little guy for the afternoon, I was totally excited.

We had a nice time hanging outside for awhile.  Though I've always thought it would be fun to have a big play set in our backyard, it doesn't make a ton of sense, since there is a huge playground across the street at the elementary school.  So, besides outdoor toys, the only thing that we have outside is a swing, which now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure that our dear friend Gary Tuttle put up for us.  I'm sure he would be happy, knowing that many children have swung on it and love it.

After spending a good amount of time swinging, we decided to head inside for a bit.  My sweet friend informed me that he likes to carry his bag like a pocketbook, but it's not a pocketbook because it's his lunch bag.  Gosh, I love the way that little ones think.

After a quick snack, we took a walk down the road to see the duck farm.  I'm not sure why, but my kids always enjoyed a nice walk down that way.  Maybe because we get to walk over a cool bridge.  Or maybe just because it's pretty awesome to see one of the last duck farms on Long Island which happens to be a quick walk just down the road.

We had a fun time.

On the way home, we noticed that some of the ducks were escaping from their pen.  I thought I should maybe tell someone, but there was no one around to tell.  So we called out to the ducks and told them they should go to their home, and wished for the best.

All in all, it was a memorable afternoon.  Thanks Jen for letting me borrow your sweet son, and thanks to your sweet son for a wonderful afternoon!
