My Dad...

It's never great to get a call at 12:30am.  But this past Saturday night, that's what I got and it wasn't great.  My sister Leslie called that night to tell me that my Dad was in the hospital because his liver and kidneys weren't working.  It was pretty devastating news.

Just to give you a little background, this is my Dad.  And this is one of my favorite pictures ever of him.

I was always a Daddy's girl and proud of it.  My Dad taught me many of the good and important things that I teach my kids today.  He worked hard my entire life and most importantly, he taught me about Jesus.  I love my Dad.

As a parent, it's been fun to see my Dad love his grandkids.  He has eleven, with two on the way.  My kids adore him and the time that they have with him has been precious.  Since my Dad lives in Michigan and we have been in New York, we've really been thankful for the time that we have together.  When Ellee found out that Grandpa was sick, she prayed quite earnestly to Jesus, that God would heal Grandpa's "sydneys."

I'm thankful for the love that our kids have for their Grandparents.

Continuing on.  My Dad was taken by ambulance from his hometown hospital over to Detroit, early Sunday morning.  The doctors have done many tests.  Thankfully it appears that his liver is not so much the problem, but his kidneys are definitely not doing what they are supposed to.  So for the past two days, he's undergone dialysis.  For the most part, it seems as though the dialysis is working and helping to clean out his system.  Thankfully, the doctors have told my Mom that they think it will be something that will be able to be reversed, and that prayerfully his kidneys will get rest and start to work on their own.  The past few days have held their ups and downs, but hopefully things will continue to look up.

It's been a difficult time for my family.  It's been especially hard to be so far away.  I do just ask that you would continue to keep my Dad in prayer.  I'm praying that the dialysis and medicine will do their job and that his kidneys will begin to work  on their own.  I'm also praying for continued wisdom for the doctors and nurses.  Please also keep my Mom in prayer as she helps my Dad and supports him.

I'm so very thankful for the friends and family that have surrounded my family with prayer and support during this time.  It means so very much to know that people care.  I know that God will do His good work in my family and with my Dad.  I'm hoping to be able to share more positive updates as the days go on.
