Last Game

Today was Christian's last soccer game.

It's been a great season with so many opportunities for him to learn and grow.

We've been there to cheer him on and just love him all along the way.  We are his biggest fans, after all.

I don't know about you, but when I look at this picture, I am so amazed that my little boy is growing up so fast.  I can't believe how big he is getting.

We were so incredibly blessed to have such an amazing coach this year.  She was energetic and fun.  She really loved her team, and took opportunities to encourage them, teach them, and love them.  She really made our first year of fall soccer so special.

Back to this kid.  He inspires me daily.  It's amazing to see him learn and grow athletically, but more importantly is the ways that we are seeing him learn and grow spiritually.  Tonight, he told me that when he is going to sleep, he takes time to do "prayer requests" as he called them.  "Mom," he said, "I really love talking to Jesus.  And I know that He is always there for me."  He melts my heart when he says things like this.

Ellee was his biggest cheerleader today.  She sat all cuddled and cozy in her chair and in between bites of her snack, you could hear her cheering for her big brother.

The most exciting part of the game was in the last few seconds, when Christian scored the final goal.

Though I had my camera out and shooting nearly the entire game, somehow I missed him shooting the ball, but got it as it was rolling in.  He was so excited, as he had quite a few close shots all throughout the game.

All in all, we had a great season with this amazing little team.

Afterwards, we went to La Volpe in Center Moriches to celebrate.  Coincidentally, Christian's coach's family owns and operates this amazing restaurant.  We've eaten in the pizzeria many times and have also visited the restaurant too.  The food and atmosphere are amazing and I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

The kids all enjoyed the sodas and the pizza.  Especially this one.

And as we were finishing up, Christian's sweet coach handed out awards for the season.  Christian earned the awards, "Most Versatile Player" and "Rookie of the Year" as this was his first year playing soccer.  We were super proud of him, and just so thankful for a great year with an amazing coach and a wonderful team.
