Sisters, Friends

This afternoon I had early dinner with these amazing sisters at the Moriches Bay Diner.  We ate good diner food, enjoyed entertaining conversations and shared life things.

These girls are both pretty amazing.  I've gotten to know them both over the past year, through various activities.  They are both smart and fun-loving.  They are also both incredibly talented athletes.  And they are both just really quality girls.  They both possess the kinds of strong and beautiful character qualities that I would love for my daughter to have when she is their age.

And whereas they each have their own unique personalities and other talents, they are most definitely sisters.  They share a bond that has survived the challenging "growing-up" years, and now is thriving, even with one being away at college and the other finishing her senior year of high school.

Listening to them share this afternoon, I was reminded of the special bond that sisters can tend to have.  As I've shared many times, my Dad constantly told my sisters and I that "friends would come and go, but sisters are forever."  Looking back, I realize just how true that statement was (though I didn't completely get it when I was growing up).  Not only are these girls just amazing in who they are, they are amazing because they share the special bond of being sisters forever.

I'm definitely thankful for the awesome dinner that we had, because goodness knows I love a meal that I don't have to cook... but more so, I'm thankful that I get to share in the lives of so many amazing people, and especially in the lives of these wonderful sisters.
