Our First EBCYG Wedding

We've been talking about dating and relationships in our youth group for the past month and a half.  So tonight, in a grand sort of wrap up, we staged our first EBCYG Wedding.

Ellee got to play flower girl, a job she's performed twice before.  She was delighted to drop the flower petals and marched proudly down the aisle, preparing the way for our "bride."

Her Daddy was pretty proud.  And if you notice, she ended up keeping most of the rose petals, as she decided that she didn't want to throw them on the ground, because she wanted to use them for art projects.  A valid reason, if you ask me.

The maid of honor, was actually the sister of our "bride."

And finally, our Christian got to proudly escort the bride down the aisle.  He took his job very seriously.

Our "groom" was a great sport, and did a fantastic job portraying his role.

It was fun to see our students enjoy this event.  We've been talking to them about having a right perspective of dating and maintaining healthy relationships.  And it was great to be able to show them that a wedding and a marriage will the be culmination of what they decide to invest in the relationships that they will have.

At the end of our mock wedding, the bride and groom shared a friendly "high five" to conclude a fantastic ceremony given by my amazing pastor husband.

We are so thankful to our leaders for their willingness to help up put on this event.

And we pray that it will be something that will stick in the minds of our students as they seek to make good choices when it comes to dating.

Post "wedding" we enjoyed wedding cake (of course).

And apparently it was a hit with the kids.

We enjoyed a fun time all together.

Katelyn even threw her bouquet...

Which resulted in this.

 With Emily coming out victorious.

We had a wonderful night.

Ellee got to hang with one of her buddies who is home from college for Spring Break.

And I got to get a fun brother's picture of these three awesome guys.

I hope and pray that this night is memorable for our students.  We love them and definitely want to support and encourage them when it comes to the relationships that they will have.  Marriage is a gift, ordained from God and it is definitely our prayer that we can show our students how to honor God in this area.
