Our Town: The Fitness Studio

Eastport, though small in size, is big when it comes to great businesses.  Each week, I will be checking out some of the businesses that we have here and sharing what I discover on my blog.

Today, I had the privilege of visiting The Fitness Studio.  We've been in Eastport for the past 8 years.  I've visited the Bagel Shop, which happens to be the right next to The Fitness Studio many times, but I have never actually been inside.

I was really excited to check out The Fitness Studio.  I've always vaguely entertained the idea of joining a gym, but have never made any real attempts at exploring the wonderful world of working out.  As I entered the exercise room of the studio, I was pleasantly surprised at how warm and inviting the space was.  There were some great pieces of exercise equipment in the main room and everything was very organized, neat and clean.

I met with Kim, the owner of The Fitness Studio, to learn more about her business.  Kim opened The Fitness Studio just over 10 years ago with her co-owner Linda.  She has a background in fitness, and earned her degree in Kinesiology.  It was evident that she was well-educated and passionate about the fitness programs that her studio offered.

Kim introduced me to one of the Studio's fitness instructors, Deb.  In the short time that I had to observe Deb teaching a Pilates class, I just have to say that she was pretty inspiring.

Her form and technique were spot on, but more so I was just so impressed by her teaching and the passion that came out as she instructed her class.

It was a focused, but a relaxing environment to be in.

As I watched the class, I felt that this would be an amazing group to be a part of.  Kim shared that they are an incredibly personal business.  They know their members, and they know their member's families.  They have helped many people get their lives in order.  Some of the members of their studio have been with them since the very beginning.

In my morning at The Fitness Studio, it was evident to see why.  Kim and her staff truly care about what they are teaching and they care about their members.  "It's the gym for people who never felt comfortable with any other gym," Kim shared.  And I could see exactly what she was talking about.  Everyone that I saw was comfortable, happy and inspired as they worked to achieve their fitness goals.

When I asked Kim what she wanted potential customers to know about The Fitness Studio, she said, "We are a small business, but we offer a lot.  We consider ourselves experts in our field.  We have helped thousands of people change their  lives.  Our members have gone on to become trainers, runners and even employees.  It's something that changes your life.  Come and check us out, we have a great time."

If you are looking for a gym, for fitness classes, for the ever popular Zumba, or just for a place to feel cared for and accepted as you work out your fitness needs, I would highly recommend checking out The Fitness Studio of Eastport.  More information can be found on their website or Facebook page.
