Today was awesome. I started out the morning with some amazing ladies working out for two hours at The Fitness Studio. Kim hosted a Fitness Challenge Day and it was amazing. Afterwards, I met up with a friend an her kids for a fun play date at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge. We had a great day full of fun and discovered all sorts of new and interesting things.
The Quogue Wildlife Refuge is an amazing place. They are home to a wide variety of fish, reptiles, insects, birds and other various animals. There is so much to see there and so much to learn.
There are a variety of hands on activities for kids and adults too.
One of our favorite parts about the refuge are getting to learn more from their amazing staff. This is our friend Tony. He works at the Refuge and knows all sorts of wonderful facts about the animals there. He is also not afraid to handle snakes.
This snake, I believe was a corn snake. That, or a python. But most likely a corn snake.
And this amazing girl was not afraid one little bit.
As the moms talked and the girls colored, the boys found a few minutes to be distracted too.
It didn't last long, as we quickly headed outside to enjoy the amazing 50 degree weather that we had today.
We took a mile walk through the woods with the kids. They had a blast, running down trails and burning up a good amount of energy.
A huge thanks to Tony and the Refuge for helping us all to have such an amazing day!
We are definitely enjoying a great week off from school. It's nice to have days to relax and just enjoy the beautiful weather and the amazing outdoors.
Love QWLR! Used to go as a kid and lived up island...my dad and I would walk the trails for hours. I definitely do not remember handling snakes though. Those are some brave kids!
