The Good Side

This weekend, Jer and I spent a few days in the city.

We stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel.

We had an amazing room, and it was an absolutely beautiful place to enjoy our weekend.

While in the city, we visited this fun place.

I got the Peanut Butter Banana Cream doughnut and it was amazing.  The crunch of the peanuts perfectly complimented the delectable banana cream that coursed throughout the middle of this doughnut.

Later we ate lunch at Chipotle.  Chipotle is one of my all time favorite restaurants.

Their food is always fresh and delicious and amazing.  We ate there twice this weekend, it was that good.

We had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Modern Art on Friday and in a fun turn of events, admission was free.  I'm a fan of museums.  Especially art ones.

While there we saw Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night.  There is something deep and even a bit spiritual about being able to see such a gorgeous work of art.  You could see it in the faces of the people who waited patiently for their turn to pause for a few moments in front of it, and just take it all in.

We also got to see a few pieces by another one of my favorite artists, Kandinsky.

We had a great time at the museum.  There were some pretty amazing pieces that we saw.  And then there were things like this.  Things that made you wonder what exactly you were looking at.

Thankfully, there were signs.  So you'd understand.  Somewhat.

On Saturday, we did a lot of walking and just enjoyed taking in all the sights around us.

We visited the M&M's store, where we learned the following.

And on both Friday and Saturday night, we found ourselves on this street, where we took time to catch a movie.  On Friday night, we saw The Vow, and on Saturday night we saw Man on a Ledge.

Since being married, and especially since having kids, we haven't had too many opportunities to just enjoy seeing a movie together.  So that was another thing that made this weekend pretty awesome.

Can you guess what Jer was photographing in this picture?

Gosh.  I love this man.  I am so incredibly blessed to have such an amazing husband.

I loved being in the city this weekend.

I loved this bridge, and it's welcoming message.

And I loved stopping in to see this awesome store.

I took my new cell with me this weekend.  I mentioned last week, that my old phone found an unfortunate fate at the bottom of our washing machine.  Sitting in rice didn't help, so I stopped in to my local retailer and much to my delight found out that I was eligible for a free phone upgrade.  I was incredibly thankful for that blessing.

All in all, we had an amazing time this weekend.

It's good to be home now, after a fantastic weekend.  We picked up our kids on the way home, and spent a nice night altogether.  On a side note, I'm so incredibly thankful for my friend Gayle who was willing to watch our kids so that we could enjoy this weekend.  It was the perfect time to be able to get away to enjoy an amazing city with my amazing husband.
