Easter Weekend

Today, we celebrated Good Friday, which if you know the story is actually more like Bad Friday when you think about all that Jesus endured on this particular day.  Having people lie about you, accuse you, flog you, beat you, mock you, spit on you, crucify you and ultimately kill you would pretty much constitute a really, really, really bad day.

However, when you look at what really happened that day, you'll see that it's actually an incredibly good day.  It's the day that Jesus, out of love, gave his life up for us all.  It's the day that fulfilled years of promises for a Savior.  It's a day that brought hope to a hopeless world.  It's a day where death, meant life.

For many people, this weekend will mark traditional family get-togethers, special meals, decorated eggs and lots of candy and chocolates.  And while all of those are special and fun, hopefully for many of us, there will be so much more meaning to this weekend.  Hopefully it will be a time of remembrance and reflection, of hope and acknowledging an amazing act of love.

Our family will be celebrating Easter with a full morning on Sunday.  We will join other friends in our church for an Easter Sunrise Service at Newport Beach in East Moriches, followed by an Easter Breakfast.  Then, at 9:30am at Eastport Bible Church, we will celebrate some more with worship and a message shared by my awesome husband.  If you are local, and looking for a place to celebrate Easter, please come and join us for this special day!
