I've been failing a bit lately with blogging... but not with life in general, so I'm okay with it.
On Friday, we enjoyed our last day of Spring Break with a trip out to Webbys Beach on the bay.
It was sunny and fun.
And we brought a friend with us.
The whole day felt promising... like summer was just around the corner.
I'd like to think that I'm the kind of cool mom, that always remembers to bring the beach towels and fun beach toys. But in reality, I'm more like the mom that digs random square containers out of the trunk for her kids to play with, that are still filled with last year's beach shells. Again, I'm okay with that.
Ellee used one to make me a birthday cake. It was one of the most well thought out, creative birthday cakes I've ever been given, and it made me feel loved.
Creativity still lives in our kids. Take away the iPods and Wii's and they will remember their innate ingenuity and entertain themselves for hours by digging holes in the sand (with their own hands) to trap sea creatures in.
We had a great afternoon together. Whereas I'm not the mom with the cool beach toys, I am the mom with the good snacks. After playing in the sand, we all enjoyed a little popcorn and water, and then headed home, full of sun and fresh air.
I'm excited about this coming week. Jer's parents are visiting us, and we have some pretty fun things up our sleeves. I can't promise the blogging will be first priority, but I will promise that fun will be had, memories will be made and I will share when I can :)
