My amazing husband had a softball game tonight. He is incredibly sporty and I'm so proud of him. He is my rock, and I absolutely adore him.
Today, Ellee received a letter from her cousin Anna in Michigan. She was delighted to get her very own piece of mail, which contained a simple sheet of paper, with a simple message, folded up carefully and sent with love. In response, we spent time tonight writing real-life handwritten letters back to "the cousins" as our kids so fondly call them (considering my older sister has 6 kids in her family, it seems like the best possible way to address them all). And I realized that while letter writing is a bit old fashioned in this day and age of instant messaging, it's certainly a treasured art. Needless to say, we ended up with 5 envelopes, stamped with left over Christmas stamps and ready to be sent out tomorrow. And it made me smile to think of the ways that love can be sent over the miles.
My prayers go out to the firemen and women who have been battling the wild fires that broke out near our home this evening. I just read that over 2,000 acres of land has been consumed by these fires. I'm so thankful for those who are fighting the fires. To my knowledge, our fire departments consist mostly of volunteers and I'm certainly praying for continued safety and protection for all of those involved.
Tomorrow we will have super play date with many of our friends. With Spring Break this week, it's nice to think of taking time off from the usual to just be and enjoy. Most likely there will be pictures to share.
