Today, we enjoyed a fun filled and memorable Fourth of July. It began early this morning when we met our friends at the marina and took a ride in their boat out to the bay.
We spent a good portion of the morning fishing.
And enjoyed some absolutely beautiful weather.
Most of our fishing involved reeling up these little guys.
So we were all overjoyed when our friend Sean hooked the best catch of the day.
This guy.
Fishing was incredibly fun, although it made some of us a little sleepier than others.
In a terribly fun turn of events, Jer got to enjoy a little waterskiing as well. I was so proud to see my husband get up on the skis with ease and thoroughly enjoy a few runs.
We spent the rest of the day on the beach. There was plenty of boogie boarding, hanging with friends, snacking and relaxing. It was an absolutely gorgeous day.
We met up with a few more friends and had a blast playing a little football and catching spider crabs.
Christian even got pretty brave with the spider crabs and by the end of the day was handling them like a pro.
Ellee and her buddy had a great time snacking and hanging out.
All in all it was the perfect beach day.
Afterwards, we headed back for what turned out to be an amazing feast of all things good.
Our amazing friends cooked up the fresh fish that was caught today and it was so, so good. Add to that, burgers, corn on the cob, steamed clams, fresh fruit salad and potato salad and we ended up with an absolute feast.
The kids all played together and we all had a great time.
We ended our time with friends with smores.
We used these gigantic marshmallows and ended up with some very sticky, but very good smores.
After smores, we finally did head out to try and catch the fireworks in Westhampton. Going to these fireworks is a family tradition, though this year we ended up being a bit late, because we were having such a great time with our friends. It worked out perfectly though. We pulled up a bit late to see the fireworks from the field by the school. We ran outside and sat in the grass. The fireworks were amazing. They always are. A few minutes after we arrived it started to rain. And after a few more minutes, the thunder and lighting were competing with the booms and flashes of the fireworks. By the grand finale, we were sitting in a torrential downpour. We were drenched, and ran laughing to the car. Needless to say, it was an incredibly memorable night.
Happy Fourth of July! Hope you all enjoyed a fun and memorable day as well!
