Sunday Stream

In the blogger world, I've always been a fan of the Stream of Consciousness posts, where writers share whatever random thoughts are flowing through their minds at the given moment.  I think that I like those kinds of posts because generally that's how I tend to think most of the time (with random thoughts flowing through my mind continually).  I'm pretty sure that I have some form of adult ADD but I'm mostly okay with it.  That being said, I thought I'd share a Sunday stream of consciousness.

Today I went back to the Westhampton estate sale that I visited on Friday with my friend Erika.  I couldn't help myself.  There was something just incredibly fun about walking through a huge Hamptons summer home where pretty much ever item in the home was up for sale.  On Friday I picked up a beautiful stainless steel soup ladle for $5.  Learning that the going rate for such ladle was $25, it turned out to be a good deal.  Today, most everything of general interest had been bought.  I did happen to find two packs of brand new Terro ant traps, which I happen to need as our kitchen has been over taken by the tiny beasts.  In a fun turn of events, the sweet woman running the sale gave them to me for free, saving me $12 and allowing me to slowly take back my kitchen from the pesky ants.

Hmm... that was more like story time with Laura as opposed to a true Stream of Consciousness post.

Oh well.

Moving on, tonight we are starting a new series in our College and Career Group.  We're going to talk about the idea of what our lives would be, if we really trusted God, who He is and what He says.  I'm pretty excited about it, because it's going to contain some stuff that I think I need to hear.

Tomorrow I have an eye doctor appointment.  I'm nervous about it, but am trying to put the whole trusting God thing into practice, coupled up with my life goal of not being anxious about anything, but praying with thanksgiving about everything (thank you Philippians 4:4-8).  It's been a bit of a process, but isn't everything in life that we struggle with a bit of a process?

My awesome husband is working diligently on a book report for a class that he's taking towards his Masters.  He's so smart and I am so proud of him.

Our kids are resting quietly.  Christian's been extra diligent lately.  After the library's summer reading program ended, he was pretty bummed.  He had been working hard to earn wooden nickels to spend at the library's "wooden nickel store."  So, in a brilliant moment of motherhood, I told him that if he continued to read an hour and an a half each day, I would give him a real, live metal quarter.  He thought it was a pretty good deal and has been working most days to earn his money.  In some sort of way, I feel that I am enhancing his education to the tune of $1.75 a week.  Not bad, considering the price of college these days.

All that being said, better go and get ready for our amazing college group.  Thanks for listening, and hope you are all well, enjoying your Sunday night!
