French Toast and Sweet Memories

In honor of Christian's 8th birthday, my parents came out for a quick visit from Michigan.  We had a great time with them and Christian was so excited that they were able to spend his birthday with him.  We spent the past few days celebrating and it was a very special time.

Quick story.  A month ago, my Mom posted a few pictures of my Dad cooking breakfast for my family in Michigan.  Though I've never really thought of my Dad as being a big fan of cooking, he is incredibly good at making french toast.

I'll be honest, I was a little envious of their big breakfast get together and sad that we missed out on such a great time.  I got over it, but still it's a bit of the downside when you live 800 miles away from family.  Side note...  if if looks like there are a large amount of children in this picture, it's because there are.  My sisters have 9 children between them and are both expecting.  Leslie is pregnant with her 7th and Sarah with her 4th.  They are both amazing and should probably should get some sort of reward for being such amazing Super Moms.

All that being said, one of the highlights of the visit was having my Dad cook breakfast on Tuesday morning for our little family.  When Christian found out that him and my mom were coming for a visit, he put in a special request, and Grandpa happily obliged.

(Since the above picture made my Dad look a little serious, I thought I'd better add one of him smiling)

The breakfast was so delicious.  We also enjoyed hash browns and one tray of oven cooked bacon (there were originally two, but no one told me that the bacon on the bottom will cook much faster, and so we ended up with one good tray, and one very burnt tray).

It was a very sweet breakfast with sweeter memories for all.  I know that we will certainly look forward to the next time we're together and Grandpa can cook french toast for us again soon.
