It's Morning

It's morning.  Specifically the morning of the day that Hurricane Sandy is supposed to hit the East Coast.  I woke up to the fierce sounds of the wind ripping through the leaves of our big tree out front.  I silently breathed a quick prayer for safety and hopped out of bed.

I walked downstairs, thankful that the lights still worked, especially considering the dark, stormy day that was raging outside.

Selfishly, I'm hoping that we won't get hit too hard.  It's my goal and prayer that I don't have to be like many of my other Facebook friends in our area and post pictures of water in unnatural locations near our home.  I've already seen quite a few, and it's a bit unnerving.

The mood in our home this morning was a bit amusing as Christian and Ellee worked through their feelings about the hurricane.  Christian quite seriously reminded me that if our electricity goes, the first thing we will have to do is eat all of our ice cream (apparently he shares his mother's passions).  Ellee solemnly informed me, "Well Mom, we'd better enjoy our TV all we can before the power goes out."  When I went to the fridge to grab some milk for my cereal, I was secretly thankful that we hadn't yet hit the point where we'll have to play the "how quickly can we get things out of the refrigerator because hopefully everything will still stay cold for a day or two if we're fast game."

I did have to run outside to shut our front gate and at that time, I did grab a few quick pictures from around our home.  However, for the most part, I'm going to do my best to just stay indoors for the next few days, like I promised my Mom last night when I was talking to her on the phone.

Speaking of my Mom, apparently Michigan will get a taste of Hurricane Sandy as well, according to this shot from Weather.com.  Again, lots of prayers for everyone that will be impacted by this tremendous storm.
