A few weeks before Christmas, I was shopping at Savers when I came across 8 rolls of calculator paper. It was priced at $1.99 but with my coupon I only paid $1.39 for all of that wonderful paper. In my heart of hearts, I knew that it would provide endless entertainment for our kids, and in a fun turn of events, it has. Christian and Ellee both received drawing books for Christmas and they have been practicing their newfound drawing skills on these rolls of paper.
Given the addition of a little tape, today, they spent a good half hour together building this.
I was super happy to see them enjoying the paper and also happy that they were enjoying some quality time together. For some reason, over breaks they get a little antsy and end up bickering about all sorts of little things throughout the day, so it was nice to see them having fun and working together.
When Daddy came home, they triumphantly completed their grand project with this:
Fun times. We also enjoyed more fun moments this evening when through the beauty of technology, they were able to connect with their Papa and Nana in Seattle and share a few Christmas memories.
Nana, in keeping with her Christmas traditions, sent both of them beautifully new and cozy pajamas. She also sent out two kids cookbooks for Christian, along with a chef's hat and apron. He was pretty excited, since he aspires to be a chef some day and has already written up a list of items that we need for him to cook some fun meals in the days to come.
Ellee received a fun present for her American Girl doll.
She was excited to dress up her doll in the beautiful new clothes.
Thanks so much to Nana and Papa for the special treasures. You absolutely know your grandkids' hearts and they were thrilled with the gifts. I'm so thankful that even though we live on opposite sides of the country, we are able to connect with our family and share special times like this.
