Christmas Vacation is wonderful. It's this blur of days, where you get to sleep in, spend time with family and friends and continue to eat fun leftover Christmasy foods. Today was no exception. I spent the afternoon, catching up with my dear friend Amber who moved to Michigan this past September. We drank tea and ate homemade banana bread and talked about the good things in life. My kids also had a fun afternoon with a very sweet friend.
This evening, the kids and I went to the gym with the promise of a trip to the Diner afterwards. Quick shout out... I just have to say that I absolutely love my gym. I love the classes and I love the people. I love having a balance to enjoying the sweeter things in life and I'm literally talking about sweet things like dessert here. On a more serious note though, I personally struggle with anxiety at times, and I love how working out at the gym really helps this struggle. I pray a lot during my workouts... sometimes it's just prayers that I will not fall over when I'm doing planks, but mostly it's prayers that while I'm physically gaining strength, I will also spiritually gain strength as well. It definitely works for me. I'm incredibly thankful for my gym and also thankful for my gracious kids that accompany me most days.
Moving along, after the gym, we headed out to the Diner.
We had a wonderful time all together.
The kids were just perfect and it was a great way to end the day.
While waiting for our food, Ellee and I worked on a few sight words using an app on the iPod. This is the very iPod that I washed last year, and in a gracious turn of events, it's still working beautifully.
Christian entertained himself by editing the front of the placemat.
Then we played a few rounds of the Scribble game. You know, the game where someone draws a scribble and then you turn it into art.
This was my art.
Our food finally came and we all enjoyed it thoroughly.
This sweet girl was especially excited about her Spaghetti and fries. It was an unconventional pairing, but she insisted that it was a perfect match.
I opted for a choice off the "healthy" menu, seeing as which I just worked incredibly hard for an hour and didn't want it all to go to waste. That being said, I still helped Christian eat a few of his fries, because I'm just helpful like that.
The kids finished off their dinners with a nice bowl of ice cream. I also helped this sweet girl with a few bites of hers. It was a great evening.
Sometimes it's just so good to take a night and head out to the Diner. It's very New York, but it was so great and definitely a part of New York that I love and embrace. Hope you are all enjoying this blur of days and your Christmas Vacations as well!
