This is my husband. He loves Jesus and he's my best friend. He's an incredible father who is adored by his children. He's incredibly talented at sports, both knowing about them and playing them and he's also a pretty big Apple fan (as in the company and products and not so much the fruit). And I'm pretty proud to announce, that he's quickly becoming an incredible photographer as well.
First a quick story. One of my favorite pastors of all time, Andy Stanley, did a series on marriage that I listened to awhile back. I remember him talking about Philippians 2:4, where it says, "Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." He talked about how being interested in the things that your spouse is interested in can be really strengthening for any marriage. This is why I occasionally try (sometimes more than others) to watch football with Jer. It's not really something that I would do on my own, but it's something that draws me closer to my husband so that makes the effort quite worthwhile.
All that being said, I am absolutely loving the connection that Jer and I are having lately, over my current and his growing passion for photography.
Within this past year, Jer has been increasing his interest in capturing great photos. He started out taking great shots using his iPhone. And a few months ago, when I purchases a new camera, I gave him my old 5D Mark II to use. It's been really exciting seeing him learn how to use it and I completely admire his work and perspective, because it allows me see the world through his eyes.
You see, in my photography, I capture people. With Jer's photography, he captures things, and backgrounds, and beauty in the ordinary. I printed out some of my favorite shots that he took and we have them hanging on our living room wall. Over the past year, many have given me credit for these shots, to which I proudly share that they aren't mine, they are his.
I knew that Jer was getting serious when he purchased a super cool bag for his gear. It has been really, really amazing to see his passion for photography grow.
Jer has taken some really amazing pictures. This has to be one of my all time favorite shots that he's taken. He has a knack for bringing his camera on random trips that we take and always seems to bring beauty out of things that most would just pass by.
All that being said, I just wanted to write up a post to brag a little about my husband (it's okay to brag about your husband, right?). He started up a new Facebook page for his photography and it would be great if you want to check it out here. He's in the process of continuing to learn and grow and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
