Basketball

Today was Christian's last week of MYO Basketball.

We've always been fans of MYO and our kids have enjoyed playing soccer and basketball through their sports programs.

This was Christian's third year playing basketball for MYO and he has really grown and learned a lot over the years.  This year, he played on the Third and Fourth Grade team.

He started out the afternoon working on a few drills.

You gotta love a boy who will flash this smile at his camera-wielding Mom.

Coach Tony led the boys through a variety of drills.

Christian was pretty diligent about paying attention and learning the skills.

Our whole family came to practice this afternoon to watch Christian play.

Jer was so proud watching Christian play.

Which reminds me.  It was exactly four weeks ago that Christian had basketball when Jer was on the Youth Group ski trip.  I remember driving home from his practice and getting the call that Jer had broken his ankle.  Thankfully, four weeks later, things are going well and with each new cast color we are a week closer to Jer being able to walk again.

After drills, Christian's team played their game.  He put all of the things he learned into practice, including his excellent guarding skills.

Christian also got two baskets during the game, the first of which I was able to capture here.  I think that at this age, for the most part, it's impressive when any kids gets a basket considering they are still at the phase when double-dibbling isn't called and most kids don't like to actually pass the ball.

At the end of the game, the kids got their trophies.  It was a pretty proud moment for us.

They took a group picture

And then I got a few of our family.

Congratulations to our awesome son on a great year of basketball.  Thanks for being amazing and for sharing your lollipop with your sister.  She loves you and we do too!
