A storm is coming. And I wasn't too concerned until I checked out weather.com and saw this page. Seeing words like "life-threatening," "imminent danger," and "Friends at Risk" kind of freaked me out to be honest. Needless to say, we're happily homebound for the next few days and praying that everything will turn out okay.
Earlier today, Jer and I celebrated one last drive out before the storm. We headed up to the Motor Parkway to enjoy lunch at Chipotle. It's a bit of a drive, but always worthwhile. And I was reminded as I looked at my receipt, that "life is burritoful," and I realized that it really was and the thought made me smile.
Under the counsel of my dear friend Emily, I opted for the steak burrito with brown rice today. It was a winning combination.
A cold Coke and fresh guacamole made everything complete.
We ate in the van, since it was more comfortable for Jer and listened to "The Herd" while the wind and rain poured steadily outside.
Afterwards, we stopped by Costco to pick up supplies for our annual Spaghetti Supper which is scheduled for this coming Sunday. I love Costco. I mean, where else can you buy your favorite box of 40 bags of movie theater butter popcorn?
Or find fun products like "Munchy Bites?"
They also had roasted chestnuts. I'll be honest, though I've heard of them in Christmas songs, I always thought there were fictional. Apparently, they are not.
We gathered all of the good things that we needed for our meal. Jer had fun driving the Amigo around, and I was thankful that despite the inconveniences of a broken ankle, there were also a few perks.
Thankfully, we arrived home just as the rain was turning to snow.
I'm so thankful that I was able to walk over and pick up our kids after school today. It was cold and snowy by that point. I said a prayer for all of the buses that were heading out and hope that all of those precious children arrive home safely today.
This is what our front yard currently looks like. When all is said and done, we are expected to get over a foot of snow, which isn't too bad considering some people are looking at well over two feet. I'm thankful to know who controls the wind and the rains (and the snow) and praying that we will be safe during the blizzard.
