It's a "Squirrel"

With last week being extremely busy, and this week following the same trend, today was my peaceful day.  I had a nice lunch with a friend, and then I bought a Ninja (more about that later).

Then, this evening, the kids and I took a trip to one of our favorite places, the library.

We're big fans of the library.  And the one closest to our home is pretty awesome.  We have a good system going on when we get there.  I beg and plead for C and E to wait quietly (it is a library after all) so that I can pick out a few books, which I do in record time.  These were my selections from today.  On a side note, I have always loved to read.  When I was younger, I would take weekly trips to the Bookmobile that would come to our local park, and leave with an impressive stack of books, which I would faithfully read all the way through.  I really feel that my love for reading helped tremendously in high school and in college, so I'm working to encourage that love for reading with our kids.

After I pick out my books, we head up to the second floor which is entirely devoted to children.  I sit and read through a few magazines, while Christian and Ellee pick out their books for the week.  Ellee loves to come back and forth with her possible choices to see if I'll approve.  And most every time, I avidly praise her various selections which results in this funny smile.

Christian found this gem tonight.

And after reading this page on Nature's Deadliest Poisons, he excitedly exclaimed, "This IS the BADDEST book ever, Mom!"

I also love the library because there are other fun activities to do.  When Ellee grew tired of reading, she wandered over to this table and drew these two works of arts...  One was, as she proudly exclaimed, "a squirrel" to which I asked, "Is it a swirl, or a squirrel?"  She then gave me her exasperated look, and said, "Moooomm... it's a squirrel!"  The other picture was our family, and not a squirrel.  Gosh, I love that girl.

As the sun was setting, we left our library for dinner at Funchos and dessert at the Beach Bakery.  It was pretty much a perfectly restful night.  Tomorrow, I'll be shooting the first of two school picture days that I have scheduled for this week.  All in all, I'm so thankful for the amazing night that I was able to have tonight, and know that the rest I got today will help me to be ready for busyness of tomorrow.
