First off, a quick story, because today was one of those days that's going to stick with me for awhile. This afternoon, I was emptying the dishwasher, when I heard screeching and a huge crashing sound. I ran to the front window and looked out to see a car, flipped upside down, right in the middle of our church's driveway. It was a heart-stopping sight.
I ran outside just in time to see Jer pulling someone from the driver's side. My shock grew when I realized that we knew the young woman who was driving the car. She was a friend of one of our college group girls and has been around for a variety of different events. She was on her way to a party that we were planning on going to later. With God's great mercy and protection, she emerged from her car with scrapes and in shock, but for the most part okay. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were also able to walk away from the accident. The Police, EMTs and Firefighters of Eastport all responded amazingly.
I share this story, because it's a testimony of God's power and protection through what could have been a very devastating event. I give Him praise and glory tonight, and have a huge amount of gratitude in my heart for the way things turned out.
Afterwards, we did head out to the party, to surprise and celebrate an amazing and beautiful friend. Then, after dropping off C and E to VBS, I met up with Jer and we went to cheer on our women's softball team, the Doves. Tonight, they played in their championship game. They had a great turnout of friends and family who all came to cheer them on.
I've always admired Softball players.
They are always strong and amazing and not afraid of the ball (which I happen to be).
In between taking pictures of the Softball team, I also managed to snag a few of these cute kids.
They are the kids of some of our friends and they always make me smile.
Back to the game.
A huge shout out to this amazing girl. She started pitching in the playoffs, and did a phenomenal job of helping the team win game after game.
Most of the innings went quickly.
This is one of my dear friends. She is strong and amazing and has a beautiful heart. I was so excited to see her play tonight. She's pretty awesome.
And this is her husband, who did a victorious fist pump for his awesome wife, which is just pretty awesome in itself.
The Doves played hard tonight.
They were driven
Talented
Focused
And managed to have fun through it all.
And while the crowd sat on the edge of their seats during the last inning...
The Doves came out victorious.
A huge Congratulations to all of the amazing women on the Eastport Bible Church Dove's softball team. I heard that it was the first time in nine years that they won their division. It was a great game with great women and we are all so very proud of you!
