Today started out pretty spectacular, and it ended pretty spectacular too.
I spent most of my morning working on summer youth group things. It made me realize that we have a fun, but busy summer coming up. It also made me realize that my husband is amazing and does a lot of work! As I was planning, I heard the faint roar of a lawn mower. I didn't think much of it, until I went to get a glass of water, and upon looking out our window, noticed that one of our college students was out mowing OUR lawn... and on one of our hottest days this year. It was a pretty spectacular site, one that brought tears to my eyes. Another one of our friends joined him, and together they made our yard look absolutely beautiful. Which brings me to tonight.
After returning home from our church's congregational meeting, we quickly realized that our entire yard was illuminated by tons of fireflies.
Catching fireflies is an all time favorite of our kids, and they spent a good fifteen minutes running around, catching these amazing little bugs.
It's a summertime memory that I will always hold near to my heart.
Always.
I'm thankful for the everyday ordinary.
But on days like today, I'm also very thankful for the spectacular. I'm thankful for the amazing people that we have in our lives. And I'm thankful for the stunning beauty of the world around us. Hoping that you find time to enjoy some of our own "spectacular" too!
