Tuesdays are Busy

Tuesdays are busy.  Especially for our kids.  They are in school all day and then right after school, they go to Bible Club.  They get home around 4:45pm and then they graciously accompany me to the gym.  They play and do homework for an hour while I sweat it out to my favorite boot camp class.  After we get home, I get dinner going.  As I was getting ready tonight, I walked downstairs to this precious sight.

This past year, Christian's turned into quite an avid reader.  It probably started this summer, when he participated in the Westhampton Library's Summer Reading program.  When he read, he earned wooden nickels to spend at the library store.  It was simple and genius and Christian read his little heart out and earned quite a few wooden nickels.  Ever since then, he's just kept up with it.  Jer and I are incredibly proud of him.

When I walked downstairs he was reading Mr. Popper's Penguins to his little sister.  He continued for a half hour or so.  There were a few times that he had to remind his sister to be a good listener, but for the most part, it was a very special time between the two of them.

I'm super thankful for times like tonight.  I'm thankful that my kids have the sense to slow life down and enjoy a few cozy moments amidst a very busy day.  I'm thankful for a son who devours books with his voracious appetite for reading.  And I'm thankful that he loves his sister and wants to share his love for reading with her as well.  It's a good night and one full of things to be thankful for.  And I am thankful.
