The Good News

The Good News:

Jer took a big group of our youth group students on a Ski trip to Pennsylvania yesterday.

After taking a really bad fall, he managed to ski down the mountain.  When he wasn't able to drive, PRAISE GOD, for Bob, one of the parents of our students who was able to drive the group home.

My dear friend Gayle was able to watch our kids overnight so that I could take Jer to the emergency room.

Southampton Hospital has a great emergency room staff and we were able to get in relatively quickly.

Everyone that we saw was very helpful and encouraging.

We were able to see Dr. Caputo, the on-call Orthopedist.  He was amazing.  Seriously.  He was helpful and encouraging and made everything about this bad situation so much better.

With the amazing technology that we sometimes take for granted, the doctor was able to see the two breaks in Jer's ankle and the place where his ligament was torn.  Sigh.

The good news continues though, in that Dr. Caputo gave us a great reference for a doctor who should be able to see Jer and perform the surgery that he will need once the swelling in his ankle goes down.  We are very encouraged and are praying that this will be the right doctor for Jer to see.

Finally, though it was a tough night with lots to process, thankfully it seems that the surgery is somewhat routine and that in the long run, everything will be okay.

There is a lot to be thankful for.  And there is also a lot to pray for.  Jer is in a lot of pain.  I was able to run out and fill a prescription this morning that should help with that.  As I mentioned before, Jer will have surgery sometime this week.  He will have to be off his ankle for an entire month, and then will have to adjust to only bearing half of his weight on it for another month after that.  There will be a lot of adjustments that will need to be made with those things considered.

Another huge prayer concern, is our upcoming Breakaway Youth Retreat this coming weekend.  We have close to 90 people signed up to go and I know that God will work everything out for His good and His glory.  I'm not quite sure how it will all work out, but prayers for this would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

God is so good.  We have many things to be thankful for and we are.  Thank you for the prayers and encouragement.  I know that everything will work out and we are working on trusting God for peace, patience and strength.

  1. If possible, get him a knee scooter, so much easier than crutches, especially when he needs no weight bearing for 1 month.
